My husband and I have finally decided to bite the bullet and hire someone to finish our basement. We could do it...but know we would take a really long time...and we both agree our kids need a better place to display all their toys...the back of the living room is getting a little out of control.
So my husbands side of the family has a bunch of old barns that haven't been used in ages. My father in law has been taking down the siding and storing it in a crib on the far corner of our farm. We knew we wanted to use it...and realized our basement would be perfect for it. We are having a friend start on the floor next week...Iam not sure what the process is called...but it sure is awesome. He will grind down the top of the concrete...and proceed to stain the concrete with various coppery colors...and creating a neat border as well. When the staining is finished...he will add a clear coat layer on the top to make it shine and glissen.
The ceiling needs dry walled and can lights will be added...The barn siding will be the walls...and I love the vintage look of them...with some paint left on and rugged. One end will have built in cabinets and a place for a tv...new doors and trim will be put in as well...and some alterting of the electrical work will be needed.
Needless to say...we are super excited! And I can't wait to show pictures of the progress being made...So stay tuned...the floor should be started within a week or so. Yay!

I wish we could finish our basement, but we have water problems. It would be so nice to put all the toys down there.
