Country Dogs...*Warning* If you are sensitive to gross things...do not enter!

The beauty of having country dogs is that we can somewhat get away with letting our dogs roam free...giving the the ultimate life any dog could ask for.  We lock our dog, Charlie, up at night...but during the day...he is free to roam about our property and sometimes ventures off into the field across the road from us.  Now what you see below is definitely not the first time we have had animal parts brought to our house...and it certainly wont be the last.  But this time was different in that he brought us home, an already deceased, 7 point buck.

Unfortunately, we think this is one of the bucks that we witnessed being poached on our road a month or so back...which absolutely makes our blood boil to even think about people illegally killing animals and just leaving them for dead...and not using any part of their body to feed themselves or their family.

Back story...my husband was outside putting our Gator away because we just finished playing outside with Gavin in the snow.  He is walking from the shop/shed when he noticed a bunch of deer hanging out in the field across from our house.  He decided to watch them and see where they go...and while doing so...he hears several shotgun sounds coming from the woods across from our farm.  Now, this wooded area is probably flooded with deer because it is off limits to hunters.  So my husband was surprised to hear a shotgun go off in that direction.  He decides to stick around for awhile and just watch the deer...when all of a sudden this pickup comes down our road...stops almost in front of our shed...and a man gets out with his shotgun...on.the.road...and proceeds to shoot at the deer...blatant POACHING!  Needless to say...we were not very happy about this and personally called the Sheriff (my husband is good friends with his son) and he made a phone call to the local CO (conservation officer).  This man did not see my husband...and in return...my husband didnt want to yell or anything because you never know what a complete stranger could be capable of.

We believe this is possibly one of the animals this evil man was targeting...and words cant even express how angry it made us.  My husband and I enjoy hunting (we freeze and eat as much of the meat as possible)...but nothing makes a true/respectful hunter more mad than to see an animal wasted by some disrespectful human being.

  2. Our neighbor's adult son is one of those idiot poachers. Last year my husband saw him take down a 4-point (which is illegal for an adult to shoot) and claim that his 8-year old shot it (junior hunters around here can shoot at pretty much anything). The kid didn't even have a gun with him. And this year his older son shot and killed our other neighbor's dog claming that he "could have sworn it was a buck". The dog was a 25-pound beagle mix. Great family of hunters, they are. :disgust:
